This is to remember the work of the Navy which over many centuries have protected Britain from invasions. Without them would could have been forced to speak only Spanish, or French, or German and the English could have been a distinct language or only secretly spoken. But it is also good not to forget the many fisherman on their small boats along our North Sea coast battling the seas for our fish and chips, well, the fish not the chips.
